Words to Know (जान्नुपर्ने शब्दहरु)

• aquarium (एक्वेयिम) = माछाको ट्याङ्की
• groves (ग्रोब्स) = बगैंचाहरु
• caves (केभ्स) = गुफा
• enemies (एनिमिज) = दुस्मनहरु
• ventilators (भेन्टिलेटर्स) = पंखाहरु
• hives (हाइब्ज) = मौरी घारहरु

The places where animals live are their shelters. Different animals use different shelters to live in. We live in our house. A house protects us from heat, cold and rain. It also helps us to be safe from wild animals. We make our houses ourselves. Some animals, birds and insects also make their homes themselves. There are some animals which do not make their house. They use caves, trees, etc. to live in. They are called natural shelters.

(जनावरहरु बस्ने ठाउँ जनवारहरुको बासस्थान हो । विभिन्न जनावरहरुले बस्नको लागि फरक फरक बासस्थानको उपयोग गर्दछन् । हामी हाम्रो घरमा बस्छौं । घरले हामीलाई गर्मी, चिसो र वर्षाबाट बचाउँछ । यसले हामीलाई जंगली जनावरहरबाट पनि सुरक्षित हुन मद्दत गर्दछ । हामी हाम्रो घर आफै बनाउँछौं । केहि जनावरहरु, चराहरु र कीराहरु पनि आफ्नो घरहरु आफैं बनाउँछन् । केहि जनावरहरु आफ्नो घर बनाउँदैनन् । तिनीहरु बस्नको लागि गुफाहरु, रूखहरु, आदिलाई प्रयोग गर्छन् । तिनीहरुलाई प्राकृतिक बासस्थान भनिन्छ।)

Domestic animals and their shelters (घरपालुवा जनवार र तिनीहरुको बासस्थान)

Some animals are tamed in our farm. They are called domestic animals. They are useful to us in many ways. They give us milk, egg, meat and entertainment. Therefore, we give them food and make their shelters.

We make some special places for keeping domest animals. Some of them are given below:

(केही जनवारहरुलाई घरमा बाँधेर राखिन्छ । यसरी बाँधेर राखि जनवारलाई घरपालुवा जनावर भनिन्छ । तिनीहरू हाम्रा लागि धेरै निकै उपयोगी हुन्छन् । तिनीहरूले हामीलाई दूध, अण्डा, मासु र मनोरञ्जन दिन्छन् । त्यसैले हामीले तिनीहरूलाई बस्ने ठाउँ बनाइदिन्छौँ । हामीले घरपालुवा जनावरहरुलाई राख्नको लागि विशेष खालका बासस्थानहरु बनसइदिन्छौँ । तिनीहरू मध्ये केही तल दिइएको छ ।)

We keep hens in a coop. (हामीले कुखुरालाई कुपमा राख्छौँ ।)

We keep a horse in a stable. (हामीले घोडलाई तबेलमा राख्छौँ ।)

We keep pigs in a sty. (हामीले बंगुरलाई स्टेमा राख्छौँ ।)

We keep a dog in a kennel. (हामीले कुकुरलाई केनलमा राख्छौँ ।)

We keep fish in an aquarium. (हामीले माछालाई एक्वारियममा राख्छौँ ।)

We keep our parrot and mynah in cages. (हामीले सुगालाई पिन्जडामा राख्छौँ ।)

Wild animals and their shelters (जंगली जनावर र तिनीहरुको बासस्थान)

Most of the animals live in natural shelters. Animals like elephant, rhinoceros and deer take shelter-in the groves of trees, long grasses and bushes. Lemurs and monkeys live on trees.

(धेरैजसो जनवारहरु प्राकृतिक बासस्थानमा बस्छन् । हात्ती, गैडाहरु र जरायोहरुले रुखको बगैचा, लामो घाँसे भुमी वा झाडीहरु बासस्थानको रुपमा प्रयोग गर्छन् । ढेँडु र बाँदरहरु रुखको हाँगामा बस्छन् ।)

Crocodiles live in water. Animals like lions and tigers live in dens. (गोहीहरु पानीमा बस्छन् । सिहं र बाघहरु गुफा वा ओडारहरुमा बस्छन् ।

Birds and their shelters (चरा र तिनीहरुको बासस्थान)

Birds make nests to live. They make their nests on trees, on walls and at other safe places. They use different materials like twigs, leaves, mud and grasses to make their nests.

(चराहरुले बस्नको लागि गुँड बनाउँछन् । तिनीहरुले पखेटा, पातहरु, माटो, घाँसहरु जस्ता बस्तुहरु गुँडहरु बनाउन प्रयोग गर्छन् ।)

Birds like kites and vultures make their nests on tall trees. Pigeons and sparrows make their nests in ventilators.

(शिकारी चरा र गिद्दहरुले अग्लो रुखहरुमा आफ्नो गुँड बनाउँछन् ।)

Some birds like woodpeckers make their nests in the holes of trees.

(कुनै चराहरु जस्तै; टोकटोकेले रुखमा टोड्को बनाएर गुँड बनाउँछन् ।)

Insects and their shelters (किराहरु र तिनीहरुको बासस्थान)

Insects like bees and ants live in groups. Bees are useful insects. They make hives to live in. They collect their food as honey. Ants live in holes in the ground and walls. They use holes as as shelters. They collect food in the holes. Some ants make their shelter in trees too.

(मौरी र कमिला जस्ता किराहरु समुहमा बस्छन् । मौरीहरुले बस्नको लागि घार बनाउँछ्न । तिनीहरुले खानको रुपमा मह जम्मा गर्छन् । कमिलाहरु भुँई वा पर्खालहरुको प्वालहरुमा बस्छन् । तिनीहरुले प्वाललाई बासस्थानको रुपमा प्रयोग गर्छन् । तिनीहरुले प्वालमा खाना जम्मा गर्छन् । कुनैकुनै कमिलाहरुले रुखमा पनि बस्ने ठाउँ बनाउँछन् ।)

Other animals and their shelters (अरु जनावर र तिनीहरुको बासस्थान)

Animals like mouse, rat and mole dig holes in the ground to live in. Snakes live in holes made by other animals. Rabbits live in burrows. They dig burrows in the ground.

(मुसा, छुचुन्द्रा र डुगुरी मुसाहरुले बस्नको लागि जमिनमुनि दुलो बनाउँछन् । सर्पहरु अरुले बनाएको दुलोहरुमा बस्छन् । खेरायोहरु ठूलो दुलोहरुमा बस्छन् । तिनीहरूले जमिनमा खनेर दुलोहरु बनाउँछन् ।)
